Development is generally done via GitHub pull requests.
Every pull request should be linked to an issue in drupal.org issue queue and vice-versa.

If you prefer usual patch-based workflow feel free to submit a patch. We started
using GitHub mostly for easier review process. However, there are no strong opinions

Mint Under Fire, Ubuntu Mixed Reviews

tuxmachines.org - original work by srlinuxx - Wed, 24/02/2016 - 2:38pm

Since Sunday's Mint reveal, a certain segment of users is upset over the lack of security measures that lead to the February 20 attack. Bryan Lunduke is impressed with a video of Ubuntu on a tablet, but actual users less so. A KDE NEON unstable repository is open and Jeff Law introduced folks to the new features in GCC 6. And finally,in light of the Mint mishap, Kevin Fenzi has offered up a "Fedora distribution download primer."

How to Block Email from certain TLDs (Top Level Domains) in ISPConfig

Howto Forge - Wed, 24/02/2016 - 2:30pm
Spam is an annoyance and there's a multitude of ways to counteract it. However spammers also get smarter and try to bypass filters and stuff. In addition, ICANN has lately approved a great mean gTLDs (generic Top Level Domains), like .biz, .info etc. Some of those gTLDs are, in my opinion, exclusive used by spammers. Lately, I have gotten a lot of spam from the .xyz gTLD. So the question was, how to block email coming from such domains using that gTLD.

Views Published or Roles

Drupal Modules - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 10:49pm

This Views Published or Roles module allows you to add a filter to a view to display Published or by a Role. In a perfect world you can add the Bypass content access control permission to a role but most of time you may not want to give that permission to certain nodes instead of all of them.

In my scenario I have the View Unpublished Module installed and I want a certain role to only be able to view unpublished nodes for one node type.

Targeted selection for job interviews

Safe as Milk - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 9:50pm
A post by Amanda McPherson about her best interviewing tip over on LinkedIn got me thinking about an interview technique I was taught while on the GNOME board many years ago by Jonathan Blandford: Focus on behavior. In jobs related to product management, business development, sales, marketing or communications, you  have people who are verbally […]

ELMSLN: Central Person Registry

Drupal Modules - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 7:51pm

ELMSLN: Central Person Registry (CPR) is a distribution geared around the storage and management of lightweight profile data about all users in the system. This distribution acts as a controlling brain when we need to answer questions about who someone is or what their needs are. It can be used (for example) in the media system to figure out who to deliver a more accessible media format to based on self identification of preferring more accessible forms of media.

pdftk-inkscape

In praise of pdftk and inkscape

To appease the utterly evil, capricious and monstrous gods of Italian bureaucracy, I needed to craft several PDF files to sacrifice to the altar of the Italian Certified Email.

Three of those PDFs (let's call them A.pdf, B.pdf and C.pdf) are copies of multi-page PDFs where I need to sign each page and then send them back.

One of them (let's say C.pdf) needs to be signed on each page except the last, which needs instead to be signed twice in two special blank spaces.

Linux: How to share files on a local network with woof

Howto Forge - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 3:51pm
We've all been in this situation were we want to exchange files with other users connected to the same network as we are, and while there are tons of ways to do this, almost none of them is easy, quick, or simple enough. Thankfully, though, Linux users can utilize a small tool called “woof” that simplifies the process and makes the exchanging of files a walk in the park. What I am about to present in this short tutorial is suitable for home networks where convenience is the primary concern, and security isn't an issue.

SalesCloud Receipt integrates with SalesCloud, Commerce as a Platform Service, to provide a standardized receipt upon checkout complete in the popular Drupal Commerce platform. The Receipt itself is made available as a checkout pane that may be moved to the checkout complete page.

It handles also the sending of the receipt via email upon checkout completion or when the order is considered paid in full.

Oh No, Linux Mint Hacked, ISO's Compromised

tuxmachines.org - original work by srlinuxx - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 11:34am

The Linux Mint Website, forums, and images were hacked this weekend. Clement Lefebvre announced the breach to the public Sunday morning saying, "I’m sorry I have to come with bad news. We were exposed to an intrusion today." The hacker spoke with ZDNet today about his motivations and the extent of the damage, which includes uploading a version of Mint 17.3 Cinnamon with backdoors and selling forum user data on the black market.

Hierarchical Config

Drupal Modules - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 9:31am

This is a helper module to maintain hierarchical configuration.

Usage

After the installation you can create a new config bundle with all the needed fields at admin/structure/hierarchical_configuration_type.
Now add an hierarchical config entity reference field to your site vocabulary and your article content type for example.

I would suggest to use the Inline Entity Form module for the form displays.

CSS Alter

Drupal Modules - Tue, 23/02/2016 - 1:44am

CSS Alter retroactively removes CSS files being added to your site at any point in time. Core CSS messing with your theme? Remove 'em. Contrib modules CSS messing with your theme? Remove 'em. Base theme CSS messing with your theme? Remove 'em.

A simple admin form shows you a list of all the CSS files loaded on a page and then displays them in a series of checkboxes. This list can change based on the pages you visit and if you're using Context, but if you aren't doing anything fancy, it's pretty handy.

Compressed Filefield Widget

Drupal Modules - Mon, 22/02/2016 - 9:47pm

This module provides a "Compressed filefield" widget for fields of type file that allow to archive and compress files attached to an entity into one single file. So in principle this filefield widget can gather both files and images from other fields of type file and image.

Complex Field

Drupal Modules - Mon, 22/02/2016 - 7:44pm

This module was written to avoid the mind-numbing tedium of writing custom field types for Drupal. Eventually, I hope to improve this module to the point where at least the API part of it can be included in Drupal core so that field developers have an easy way to set up fields with complex values.

Development happens over at https://github.com/cweagans/complex_field, and code will be synced back to Drupal.org occasionally. Issue tracking should happen on the d.o issue queue.

Structured Data Markup (sdm)

Drupal Modules - Mon, 22/02/2016 - 6:58pm

Structured Data Markup (sdm)
========

Provides an entity for adding Structured Data Markup (SDM) JSON/LD script objects to your site. You can create fieldable sdm object types to add whatever custom JSON/LD objects you like, and use context module to determine what sdm objects are rendered (in the page ) and when.

A feature module is provided as both an example and an implementation of the popular google social profiles via JSON/LD.
