``I know many Muslims," he said. ``I used to live in district six. When we were boys I went to play with the neighbourhood kids. Many of them were Muslims. One day when I was five, I found them going to a house standing in a line. I thought we will get sweets, you know. But each one was ordered to take down his pants. I was a kid and I thought I will get sweets. I did so. My mum few days later discovered some blood in my pants. She asked me what happened." he laughed and said "I was circumcised with other Muslim boys!" I asked him about his own kids. "I circumcised both my kids as well.

Mostafa Hussein, Blogging on the wrong side - Wed, 22/10/2008 - 11:46pm

In Japan, sexual harassment in public transportation is called Chikan. From what I've found on-line, Chikan is a type of frotteurism. Chikan lacks the aggressive element in comparison to cases that made news here in the past few years. Chikan is more of a paraphilia than an anti-social behaviour.

Mostafa Hussein, Blogging on the wrong side - Mon, 15/09/2008 - 11:34pm

Derealization is the feeling that things in one's surroundings are strange, unreal, or somehow altered.

Suddenly, today everything around me froze in time.

A few fantastic left sitting in a small circle, CSF conscripts sitting in circles eating, a friend tired and thinking, children running after each other near a dangerous short metal fence, women trying to silence their kids sitting on worn blankets on the grass, policemen with a one inch thick stripe on the sides of their dark trousers holding walkie-talkies, a big neon green Allah sign placed on top of the Cairo governerate building, a huge Egyptian flag above Abdeen palace, green security forces troop-carrying vehicles hidden behind trees and a smoggy sky with a huge orange coloured full moon during a Ramadan sunset.

How to listen to live streaming internet radio in your car

Mostafa Hussein, Blogging on the wrong side - Wed, 20/08/2008 - 9:59pm

You can listen to live streaming internet radio if you have a mobile phone with a 3G connection. The phone should be able to run J2ME MIDP applications (most do). Download and install MFRadio. It is open source and free. MFRadio can only play Mp3 streams.

The second step is to be able to connect your phone to your car stereo. This is highly variable, so you will have to find this out on your own.

Foolishness

Mostafa Hussein, Blogging on the wrong side - Sun, 17/08/2008 - 2:08pm

Why am I the only person in the universe who has to pay for his foolishness instantly?

Starting a fight with a Taxi driver and putting him in a headlock and giving him two sissy punches in the chest in the middle of the street over 5 EGPs, in a matter of few hours, costs me 178 EGPs*!

While in headlock the driver decided to pull me from my right sleeve. The fabric of the shirt decided that it had enough.

I was left looking like an ass hole, both for attacking the Taxi driver and how I walked away red faced with a torn shirt.

You see I am a doctor and this sort of behaviour should get me suspended or ruin my career.

I will stop going to work this week, so as to sort myself out.

The architect Frank Lloyd Wright covered some of his buildings with patterned concrete blocks. He named these blocks "textile." May be because he took the concept from textile designers who use argyll, houndstooth or paisley to decorate your socks, jacket and tie.

Argyle socks

To me, I was thunderstruck to notice that a hospital in the middle of Cairo is covered with the same blocks – exactly the same blocks – that covered the building that was the living quarters of Harrison Ford in Blade Runner.

Adel (name changed) is a 14 years old Iraqi. He started medication for Asthma at the age of one, he continued the treatment for 7 years. Without medical follow-up. The family learned that the treatment turned out to be Glucocorticoids after adverse effects became frequent. His family noticed that he broke his bones easily. He developed severe Rickets and Scoliosis of the spine. His back is still severely bent to the sides.

I wish I can go back to Iraq if the situation improved.
I like English and French because I will travel to Canada, USA, Germany or Japan. There are no possibility I can get any treatment in Iraq. If a bullet entered a leg, they don't know how to remove it.

This is probably how I am going to die

I will probably die of cancer. To be more exact metastatic cancer, which is when cancer spreads from one part of the body to every other part supplied by blood or lymphatics.

Actually this would be a better way to die than a fatal crash or suicide.

I am afraid that one day I will chose to end my life. I am also afraid of death in another country. The idea of my corpse flying back home is scary. If I happen to die in another country. Please reduce me to powder form and send me back home.

I would prefer death to be slow, but not painful. I should be fully informed about everything including the stage of cancer, so I can make my preparations. It is probably an experience in itself. I will probably soak my neurons with antidepressants, medical opiate and cannabis.

Thoughts

Mostafa Hussein, Blogging on the wrong side - Fri, 25/07/2008 - 4:17pm

I can't afford my imagination.
No one can.
If you can afford what you can imagine, then you are poor.
It sucks to use public transportation here.
I had to climb up a rock wall to change between two buses.
I hate 6 Oct bridge.
6 October city is ugly.
If this is development then I don't know.
I don't know many things.
Indecisiveness is a symptom in depressed people.
And people merely undecided but not depressed.
Like these ruminations.
They are a symptom in OCD.
And people brooding but not obsessive compulsive.
People from different places behave differently.
Specially when they are bored in public spaces.
I like to watch people in a Jacuzzi.
They stimulate their most sensual non-sexual areas.
They almost silently moan at times.

Forensic examinations to prove habitual non-violent anal penetration are inherited from the textbooks of Victorian era medicine[1].

There are no peer-reviewed research that provides sound evidence in that area[2]. Because sodomy was decriminalized in western Europe by the beginning of the 20th century[1]. While countries that still considers such acts criminal are not publishers of sound peer-reviewed research.

Today, most of the descriptions inherited from old text books are easily discounted.
