Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Thu, 02/09/2010 - 5:35am

Abbas is a Man in Exile, Even Among His Own

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Tue, 31/08/2010 - 7:20pm
By Omar Karmi | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, faces a crisis of credibility among his own people as he heads into direct talks with Israel in Washington this week. Perhaps nothing better illustrates this than a rather awkward security crackdown Thursday in Ramallah, when leftist factions convened a meeting to protest against [...]

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Tue, 31/08/2010 - 7:10pm

Things that made me happy today

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Tue, 31/08/2010 - 7:06pm

Was just thinking about how amazing it is how the simple things can make people really happy. Here’s what made me smile today:

1. Finding a kick ass new route back home from work. I’ve been looking for an alternative route to Shmeisani that’s not Gardens Street nor Rabyeh, but all the streets that branch off Gardens seem to be deadends. Today, I finally found what I was looking for.

2. Finding Pop Tarts at Safeway, and them being REALLY yummy.

3. Eating really yummy knafeh bi2eshta.

Israeli and US Zionists mount ferocious attack on liberal academics in Israel

By Neve Gordon* | Sabbah Report | www.sabbah.biz On 31 May, I joined some 50 students and faculty members who gathered outside Ben-Gurion University of the Negev to demonstrate against the Israeli military assault on the flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. In response, the next day a few hundred students marched towards the social sciences [...]

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Tue, 31/08/2010 - 4:52pm

Dear friends,

In ancient times, the Egyptians became so familiar with the logic of the Sun, and Sun-Earth relationship, to the extent that they discovered and rationalised such extremely complex physical varieties as the Axial precession (or the precession of the equinoxes). They worshiped the Sun, and they invented the first calendar that was based on the relationship between Sun and Earth, dividing the year into 12 months and 365 days, and 366 days for leap years.

The Ground Zero Synagogue – Lebanon Becoming More American than America

Paradox !

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Sun, 29/08/2010 - 7:56pm

"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

Intra-Cultural Tourism; Holy Crap, He’s Wearing an Ombaz!

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Sun, 29/08/2010 - 6:17pm

It’s a month of sightseeing. A month of cultural tourism. A month of reviving what is absolutely un-cool during the other 11 months of the year.

It’s Ramadan, and for some reason, Ramadan in popular culture is about kicking the Western lifestyle in the balls and going back a few hundred years in our own lifestyle. It’s about drinking too much amardeen, giggling at grown men wearing clogs while they serve nargilehs, and weird ass tents with fortune tellers discovering the future through cups of Turkish coffee.

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Sat, 28/08/2010 - 6:16pm

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Sat, 28/08/2010 - 12:04pm

"Thus with my lips have I denounced you, while my heart, bleeding within me, called you tender names. It was love lashed by its own self that spoke. It was pride half slain that fluttered in the dust. It was my hunger for your love that raged from the housetop, while my own love, kneeling in silence, prayed your forgiveness."

Donors Sending Expired Medicine to Gaza

Mohammed Sameer's Friends' Facebook Notes - Tue, 24/08/2010 - 4:02pm
By Nicole Johnston As you approach Gaza's main dump by road you see a massive wall of trash looming over the plain. It's crawling with around one hundred scavenger dogs and dozens of poor children, combing through the trash for anything they can sell. In this cesspit of disease is 20 percent of all the donated medicine Gaza [...]
